Tweed was born in 2002 and has proven to be an exceptional hunting hawk,
she hunts throughout the winter and has a hunting weight of 2lb 8oz.
At the end of a school display the birds fly between two rows of children to the waiting glove of another child, or unsuspecting teacher!
Getting down to the kids level - Tweed shows off her best side, while Bob explains more about the birds we work with.
Lady, having passed the lure gains height for another attempt. The lure is a leather pouch which the falconer swings and the bird chases. This way, we are able to exercise the bird and ensure she is kept fit and happy.
Sky - our male Gyr-saker falcon
rests on the glove before rousing and
heading off to find some height. Sky is a very elegant bird, he is 6 years
old, with beautiful light plumage.
As the afternoon light starts to fade, Lady, the Lanner Falcon stretches her wings after her days work.
Lady on the glove. At the end of the day, our birds are rewarded for their work with a tasty piece of meat. Here you can see that her crop - a food pouch at the top of her chest - is quite large, so she is becoming "Fed Up!"
After a recent display at Charlcote House, Tweed meets the public.
