Hawking Days - A day to remember

Tweed, one of our Harris Hawks

A hunting day with our hawks is a day that you will never forget. Join our Falconers and become part of a unique team, working with some of the most incredible animals around. You will meet and handle our trained Harris Hawks and ferrets who will work with you in well over 1000 acres of beautiful Warwickshire countryside. Experience at first hand how our animals work to seek out their prey and gain a very privileged insight into these natural survival skills.

We try to reserve the day for just two guests, as this gives the opportunity for each of you to handle the birds and build up a relationship with them as the day develops. All of the time, your Falconer will be there to help, advise and give you an insight into this 4000 year old art.

During the day you will wear a Gauntlet, or Falconers glove to handle the birds as they fly from your fist at their quarry. Towards the end of the day you will reward your bird for it's hard work using specially selected food.

We are dedicated Falconers who fly birds all year round. During the summer months as well as during the traditional hawking season.

What to expect

Lady, a Lanner Falcon

Your day will begin around 9.30am, with refreshments and a chance to meet the birds and ferrets. Your Falconer will take time to answer your questions and tailor your own very special day.

When everyone is comfortable and ready, we leave to hunt and continue through to lunchtime. Lunch is taken at a local hostelry, which gives the birds and ferrets a rest and gives you time to reflect on your morning while you warm up.

The afternoon session continues until the light begins to fade and we have to return home. Back at our base, there is a chance to discuss your day and ask any questions over tea and cakes, before you return home with your head and camera full of wonderful memories; and maybe something for the pot.
